About The Center for Development and Learning (CDL)Founded in 1992, the Center for Development and Learning (CDL) is a results-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. CDL specializes in the development and dissemination of leading edge research, knowledge, and best practices from multiple disciplines that impact teaching and learning. CDL's mission is to improve the life chances of all children, especially those at high risk, by increasing school success. CDL's goal is to help all children learn to higher levels and apply their knowledge toward good ends. CDL has spent more than a decade developing an international network and collaborating with the world's best minds to create initiatives using research-based best practices that deliver increased student achievement, assistance and success. Learn more about what CDL does. Its Board of Trustees, Professional Advisory Board and Community Advisory Council provide CDL with sound leadership and valuable resources. Plans for the Future Being mission-focused, business-minded, and systems-thinking, CDL's strategy for future growth is focused on expansion of its services in order to help more children. Headquarters and Training Facility CDL's plans include a new facility that will house its Center of Excellence, located in New Orleans, LA. In addition to its executive offices, the building will feature CDL's state-of-the art training facility, a clinic, a distance-learning studio, and a library. To learn more about our plans, contact us. If you would like to make a capital contribution for our permanent facility, use our Capital Contribution Form. The training facility will be used for the professional development of educators, physicians, psychologists, social service workers and other professionals who work with students. New programs planned include the Social Service and Juvenile Justice Worker Training Program and a medical student and physicians program that will educate family medicine, pediatric, and child and adolescent psychiatric residents and interns about how to identify and help children experiencing learning problems in school. The expanded clinic will conduct neurodevelopmental evaluations, parent and student training on how the brain works and learns, and other direct services to students and their families. CDL's distance-learning studio will enable information and programming to be far reaching, easily accessible and cost-effective to more schools, and its library will be a public resource for education-related information. How You Can Help as we continue to deliver services Post-Katrina Hurricane Katrina has, undeniably, impacted CDL and its program and service recipients. Yet CDL is well positioned and ready to be an integral part in the rebuilding of the schools and the future of education in New Orleans and Louisiana. All we need is your help. |
