![]() Plain Talk About Kids: CDL's Summit on Learning and TeachingPLAIN TALK ABOUT KIDS is a national summit addressing critical and emerging issues surrounding teaching and learning. The three-day PLAIN Talk Summits, held in New Orleans generally every two to three years, provide a forum for informed conversation, knowledge connection and knowledge creation among educational, judicial, mental health and medical professionals, community and business leaders, and parents. The goal of the summits is to build the capacity of teachers, parents, students, schools and universities. After the Summit, follow-up forums are held across Louisiana, free to those who attended the summit. The purpose of the forums is to provide an opportunity to share and network, explore topics from the summit in greater depth, and begin plans of action. Attendees have said great things about the Plain Talk Summit program: "personally and professionally invigorating" "School leaders should practice what was presented here, and keep children at the forefront of all decisions and actions." "The speakers helped me realize that I can change my classroom environment. I am recharged." "an astonishing reinforcement of the worth of the teacher as an ambassador of child development" "I was able to freely ask questions and receive valuable advice and insight."
