Heggerty

Phonemic awareness is the ability to understand that spoken words are made up of individual sounds called phonemes, and it’s one of the best early predictors for reading success. We believe that explicit, systematic phonological and phonemic awareness instruction is the missing piece in classroom literacy instruction, and we’re the only curriculum out there that teaches all 8 phonemic awareness skills 5 days a week for 35 weeks. Originally written by Dr. Michael Heggerty in 2003, our curriculum is now used in PK-2 classrooms at over 25,000 schools across the United States, Canada, and Australia. We have also recently launched a curriculum for Early Pre-Kindergarten, an intervention curriculum for older learners called Bridge The Gap, and a new decodable book series.

Letterland

Letterland is a phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, and handwriting program for Pre-K through Grade 3. Students learn sounds and phonics patterns through story-based characters that are visually embedded in letters. Letterland uses a structured, systematic phonics sequence aligned with Orton-Gillingham practices. Letterland teaches foundational reading skills using a multi-sensory approach to activate learning through visuals, music, movement, art, and role-play. Research shows that this engaging and motivating curriculum allows students to quickly progress to word building, reading and writing. The systematic/explicit nature of Letterland results in far less students struggling to read. For general classrooms, EC and Special Education students.
